OANDCon24: Lesions and Adhesions: Managing inflammatory and immunological uterine disorders with Dr. Sarah Zadek, ND

Course Description:

Heavy menstrual bleeding and severe dysmenorrhea is common and under-treated. These are often linked to the presence of fibroids, polyps, endometriosis and adenomyosis which continue to spread and proliferate until menopause unless addressed. This session will cover their pathophysiology, (including genetic components and aberrant DNA methylation) and how to manage these conditions (without hormonal contraceptives) throughout the reproductive lifespan.

Clinical Takeaways:

  • Explain the pathophysiology of fibroids, endometriosis and adenomyosis, and their long-term effects
  • Identify the ways in which these chronic inflammatory gynecological disorders can impact fertility and pregnancy.
  • Identify the immune components of these conditions in your patients including co-exisiting inflammation, microbiome dysbiosis, histamine intolerance, mast cell activation
  • Identify your patient’s individual genetic predispositions and use this to guide their treatment and requirements for testing.
  • Identify the pros and cons to pharmaceutical/hormonal treatment and apply the appropriate naturopathic treatments for long-term health management.
