Course Description:

Reviewing the evidence on the prevalence and range of mental health concerns in the pediatric population, we will also explore the pharmaceutical and naturopathic approaches to supporting mental wellness and resilience. Discussing a number of patient cases will elucidate the principles of treating children and teens with mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and ADHD.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Review the prevalence of mood disorders and ADHD particularly in the post-pandemic world.
  2. Discuss the long-term impacts of ACEs (adverse childhood experiences) on physical and mental-emotional health.
  3. Explore conventional and naturopathic interventions for common mental health disorders in the pediatric population, including how to modify typical naturopathic protocols for children.
  4. Discussion of case studies illustrating these approaches.
