Course Description:

Medical Esthetics is an underrepresented area of opportunity in dermatology for naturopathic doctors. It is the fastest-growing area of medicine worldwide. Currently, there are limited to no options for Ontario NDs to further studies in dermatological esthetics in the setting of academic training. With the popularity and growth of non-invasive procedures like esthetics injections, topicals, and light therapies, this course is intended to help an ND to have a more meaningful conversation with patients on how and when to incorporate naturopathic care.

As naturopathic doctors, we are uniquely positioned to offer the most comprehensive, safe, and effective solutions to our integumentary patients presenting with common conditions like rosacea, acne, eczema, etc….Most NDs tend to focus on treating the underlying (non-visible) issues such as diet, hormones, and supportive care for deficiencies with great results. What if we can treat the visible conditions using available technologies such as lasers, cosmeceuticals, and pharmaceuticals?

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understanding of energy/light modalities in treatment of dermatological conditions-the science of lasers and light physics for medical use.
  2. Review of neuromodulators and fillers science to better understand the effects on health.
  3. Understand skin care ingredients, nutraceuticals, cosmeceuticals and how best to use them for varying skin conditions–Actives, enzymes and carriers.-Natural vs pharmaceutical ingredients.
  4. Review of naturopathic modalities in treatment of skin conditions.

This session is approved for 1 General, 0.5 Pharmacology Category A CE Credits with the College of Naturopaths of Ontario (CONO).  After completing the material, you will automatically receive your CE certificate.
