Course Description:

The role that Naturopathic Medicine has in the field of palliative care is emerging. More patients are seeking complimentary options in helping them manage the signs and symptoms associated with their illness. Unfortunately many patients still believe palliative care signifies that the end is near. However, the term is used to describe the improvement of quality of life in patients facing a life-threatening illness. It is well documented that patients’ quality of life does in fact improve once in palliative care. Naturopathic Medicine can have a significant impact on these concerns and can improve quality of life outcomes in patients. This webinar will have several overarching objectives, including how to determine when a patient should consider being admitted into a palliative care setting, patient assessment and how to work collaboratively with other professionals. There will also be an in-depth review of evidence regarding Naturopathic recommendations. Attendees will also learn which laboratory tests to order to properly assess and monitor a patient in palliative care and when to consider a referral to a palliative care doctor.
