Diet is an important modifiable risk factor in the development and progression of mental health disorders; however, diet counselling is infrequently part of mental health care delivery. Naturopathic doctors have an opportunity to play a lead role in addressing this gap. In this course, participants will learn about the evidence connecting dietary patterns and constituents with the development of mental disorders and the recent clinical trials in the field of nutritional psychiatry. Dr. Aucoin, ND will introduce a new patient handout and clinician guide designed to help clinicians facilitate dietary counselling with patients who experience mental illness. This tool was developed and tested by a team of NDs and psychiatrists. You receive a fillable PDF of the resources, as well bonus video content from Dr. Aucoin, ND on clinical pearls for using nutrition in supporting mental health with patients. Original Air Date: March 23, 2022
