Decolonizing Medicine Series with Dr. Johanne McCarthy, ND


In this course, Dr. McCarthy covers four domains to understand the history, context and impact of the colonization of medicine; why decolonization of medicine is critical; and finally, how to begin to partake it the process of decolonization.

This course also provides a number of resources including an Allyship Kit to assist participants in taking meaningful action based on the course material. 


This Course is CONO approved for  4.5 Category A credits and 1.5 Category A Jurisprudence Credits.  Upon full completion of the course, you will automatically receive your CE certificates and they will be visible in your OAND Education Portal.

Dr. Johanne McCarthy, ND

Dr. Johanne McCarthy, Onondaga Nation, Beaver clan from the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory, is a happy mother of two, an activist for community healing, a Naturopathic Doctor and a Teaching & Learning Consultant for Indigenous Education at Mohawk College.  Dr. McCarthy cares deeply about healing relationships and professes value for a wholistic approach to reconciliation.  She holds a Masters in Organizational Leadership with an ancestral purpose and mission to transform and decolonize systems and institutions founded upon Indigenous oppression and genocide.  With over 20 years of experience as a front line health care provider and 12 years of experience in post-secondary education, she has become an expert at motivating healthy change for the coming faces of our future generations.
