Package Description

Course Description:

Mounting evidence has demonstrated that dietary changes are often going to be part of first-line therapy in functional GI disorders. But recent research is highlighting the challenges associated with disordered eating habits in this population. How do we assess the risk associated with dietary changes in our gut patients, work with individuals at risk, modify our programs and bring foods back to the diet of non-allergic, non-celiac patients. This session will work through those questions, appropriate screening of patients, review issues around disordered eating patterns in our GI patients, as well as challenging some of our own beliefs around food and health.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Be able to assess risk of disordered eating in your GI patients
  2. Be able to know when to modify or avoid food based programs in your GI patients
  3. Understand options available to modify dietary strategies and use non-dietary strategies when appropriate
  4. Learn to focus on the final stages of dietary elimination programs in GI patients-returning food to the diet

This session is approved for 1.5 General Category A CE Credits CE Credits with the College of Naturopaths of Ontario (CONO).  After completing the material, you will automatically receive your CE certificate.
