OANDCon22: Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause OnDemand


Course Description:

It is estimated that at least 50% of people post-menopause will experience the vulvovagina, urinary, and sexual signs and symptoms associated with the new term, “Genitourinary Syndrome ofMenopause” (GSM). Yet<50% of patients will discuss symptoms with their healthcare provider, and we have a paucity of healthcare providers with knowledge to adequately assess and treat this chronic and progressive issue.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the prevalence and consequences of GSM
  2. Explain the pathophysiology of GSM
  3. Clinically screen for symptoms of GSM from patient screening questions to vulvovaginal examination
  4. Perform a vulvar exam to assess for clinical signs of GSM
  5. Manage GSM using evidence-based treatment recommendations, including safely prescribing hormone therapy
  6. Counsel your patient about treatment options
