Course Description:

There are many non-cannabis compounds such as PEA and Beta-Caryophyllene that act through the endocannabinoid system which do not have a direct effect on CB1 or CB2 receptors. This is different from the action of specific phytocannabinoids derived from marijuana or hemp (e.g., cannabidiol [CBD] or tetrahydrocannabinol [THC]). These compounds act through a number of different mechanisms and have wide ranging therapeutic applications in the area of chronic pain and inflammation. This session will discuss the clinical application of endocannabinoid medicine in the context of pain and inflammation using case studies to illuminate the underlying physiology

1. Discuss the mechanisms of action of PEA and other ECS modifying agents in the context of pain and inflammation
2. Discuss the synergism of naturopathic therapies and how they intersect with the endocannabinoid system
